The operation, led by Kibo Ventures, includes participation from the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), Space Frontiers Fund II (with SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd. As Manager), Indico Capital Partners and WISeSat, and will allow the company to strengthen its international expansion and advance in Security and Defence.
FOSSA, the Spanish company that has launched the most satellites into orbit, will launch its 26th satellite in the coming weeks as part of its planned constellation of 140 to provide secure connectivity to remote areas around the world.

Madrid, June 24, 2026.– FOSSA announces the closing of a €9.25 million funding round to accelerate its international expansion and strengthen the deployment of its sovereign satellite capabilities globally. The round is led by Kibo Ventures with participation from the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT, entity affiliated with the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service), Space Frontiers Fund II (with SPARX Asset Management Co., Ltd. As Manager), Indico Capital and WISeSAT. This investment reinforces confidence in FOSSA growth and in the consolidation of its business model within a rapidly transforming global space sector.
The funds will be used to strengthen the team, boost the commercial expansion launched in 2024, advance new capabilities focused on Security and Defence, and continue deploying its constellation of 140 low Earth orbit satellites.
The company, which now employs around 60 people across Spain and Portugal and has launched over 25 satellites since its founding, is in a phase of operational and technological expansion. The next launch, scheduled for the coming weeks, will be the 26th satellite in its constellation.
Founded in 2020, FOSSA has established itself as one of the most active companies in the European space and Defence ecosystem. The company develops its own technological infrastructure for satellite IoT connectivity, secure communications, and space-based intelligence solutions (SIGINT), with applications in Energy, Logistics, Agriculture, Critical Infrastructure, and National Security.
FOSSA is the Spanish company with the highest number of satellites launched into orbit, surpassing all national operators. It has developed the capability to design and manufacture satellite constellations ranging from 10 kg to over 150 kg, along with deploying its own IoT network designed to provide global connectivity and strategic capabilities in areas without terrestrial coverage.
“Thanks to FOSSA, small nations, Ministries of Defence, and global corporations can define and execute their own space strategy in just a few months, while the vertical integration of the entire technology chain has allowed us to reduce costs by an order of magnitude. In just a few years, we have gone from being a startup to an internationally present company with 25 satellites launched and technology that responds to real needs of industrial, institutional, and governmental clients. Our goal is to establish FOSSA as a European benchmark in sovereign space infrastructure,” said Julián Fernández, CEO and co-founder of FOSSA.
This funding round comes at a time when space is becoming increasingly important as a strategic infrastructure. Satellite connectivity, Earth observation, signals intelligence, and secure communications are consolidating as critical capabilities for governments and companies in an environment that demands greater technological autonomy and resilience.
“We are very pleased to bring in new leading investors and to continue counting on the support of partners who have backed the company from earlier stages. This support confirms the strength of the project, our execution capacity, and a long-term vision,” added the CEO and co-founder.
“Europe needs technological champions capable of reducing dependencies in strategic sectors. FOSSA has demonstrated that it can develop and operate sovereign space infrastructure with exceptional speed and efficiency,” explains Juan López Santamaría, Partner at Kibo Ventures. As part of the round, Kibo Ventures will join the board of directors.
In this context, FOSSA has strengthened its position in Defence and Security, including its participation in NATO’s DIANA program, where it has been selected for its capabilities in electromagnetic intelligence from low Earth orbit and its dual-use technologies.
The company is also driving its international expansion with the opening of its third office in Tokyo, following Madrid and Lisbon, and the signing of a strategic agreement with Kanematsu Corporation to deploy its technologies in the Japanese Defence market.
This new €9.25 million round brings the total amount raised by FOSSA since its inception to nearly €20 million and marks a new phase of growth focused on scaling its constellation, international expansion, and the development of advanced communications and space-based intelligence capabilities.
With this operation, FOSSA strengthens its position as one of Europe’s leading players in space infrastructure, satellite communications, and low Earth orbit intelligence, advancing the deployment of solutions to connect, monitor, and protect IoT or critical assets worldwide.
